This is a glossary to know by heart if you are in natural sciences.

Adition
Noun
The process of combining matrices, vectors, or other quantities under specific rules to obtain their sum.
Example: The adition of 1 and 0 is 1.

Axiom
Noun
a statement or proposition on which an abstractly defined structure is based.
Example: The adition is in the axiome of the natural number group.

derivative
noun
An expression representing the rate of change of a function with respect to an independent variable.
Example: To have the speed fonction of a particule, you have to find the derivative of it's position fonction.

equation
noun
A statement that the values of two mathematical expressions are equal (indicated by the sign =).
Example: To find the electrical force on a charged particul, you have to use Maxwell's equations.

Fractal
Noun
A curve or geometric figure, each part of which has the same statistical character as the whole. Fractals are useful in modeling structures (such as eroded coastlines or snowflakes) in which similar patterns recur at progressively smaller scales, and in describing partly random or chaotic phenomena such as crystal growth, fluid turbulence, and galaxy formation.
Example: The mandelbrot set is a fractal.

integral
noun
A function of which a given function is the derivative, i.e. which yields that function when differentiated, and which may express the area under the curve of a graph of the function. A function satisfying a given differential equation.
Example: To have the position fonction of a particule, you have to find the integral of it's speed fonction.

Noun
Logic of shape, quantity and arrangement. Math is all around us, in everything we do. It is the building block for everything in our daily lives, including mobile devices, architecture (ancient and modern), art, money, engineering, and even sports.
Example: Mathematic is a universal language.

A set of quantities constituting a progression or having the several values determined by a common relation.
Example: To aproximate a fonction, you can use the taylor serie of that fonction.

Simplification
Noun
The process of making something simpler or easier to do or understand.
Example: A simplification of fractions is easily foundable.

Sum
Noun
The total amount resulting from the addition of two or more numbers, amounts, or items.
Example: Do the sum of the inverse squares to know the value of the zeta fonction evauate at 2.
